The geosciences can present unique challenges for learners. In particular, guiding learners to think in terms of large spatial and temporal scales may be difficult without providing a means for learners to interact with geological concepts. This web site provides examples of activities that can be integrated with a geoscience curriculum to aid learners in developing a deeper understanding of geological concepts. The examples presented in this web site were designed for a geoscience educator workshop, but could easily be applied in a classroom setting. Six major geoscience sections were chosen for the workshop with particular emphasis on California geology. In this web site, you will find images and maps that illustrate major concepts, activities that allow learners to experiment, animations of geological phenomena, and links to extra information of concepts covered within each geoscience section. |
